MALAYSIA'S FIRST ROCKETRY CLUB

WHO ARE WE?

Wau was founded by a group of enthusiastic engineering students in Oct 2021.The members in Wau has increased where they design and manufacture high-power sounding rockets and conduct researches that contribute to the rocket developments. Our team consists of various disciplines of technical and non-technical backgrounds that drives the growth of Wau Rocketry USM.

We have a proud history of being Malaysia's first university-based rocketry team and the first Malaysian team to enter the Spaceport America Cup. In 2022, we took off to New Mexico in the United States to compete at Spaceport America Cup and we launched Malaysia's first ever student built high powered rocket, HEBAT 1.0. Our rocket got us 7th place in the 10,000 ft COTS category and 12th place in the world rank.

Here, we take safety and design quality seriously where all of our projects are done using an industry-standard systems engineering approach. Our vision is to contribute to Malaysia’s space industry by conducting valuable researches, building high standard engineering prototype and promoting STEM to the Malaysian community. Our mission is to give exposure to the students in hands-on project work and to sustainably shape the perception of Malaysia's rocketry field.

Made by students for students, Wau stands for ambition and the Malaysia Boleh Spirit. At Wau Rocketry USM, we design, build, and launch high-powered sounding rockets to a world-class standard. As Malaysia's first university-based rocketry team, we encourage students to take charge, define a vision and realize it – attributes that leaders, managers, engineers.

Let's inspire the next generation to pursue their dreams in Aerospace Field!
